our partners and friends at WORK raise funds to accompany families in Haiti out of poverty through good, dignified jobs.
for safety reasons, their 200 mile coast-to-coast Run Across Haiti that aims to bring awareness to the land and communities across the country has been put on hold, so but they launched a global initiative to keep people active and supporting the cause with Run Across May, a virtual 200 mile challenge throughout the month of May.
WORK supports over 10 000 families in Menelas, a community in Port-au-Prince established in 2004 when the Dominican Republic expelled Haitians and Dominicans with Haitian descent en masse. Menelas has become a refuge for families who move to escape violence in nearby neighbourhoods, to rebuild in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake, and to seek opportunities in the country’s landfill, Truttier. they use a holistic approach to help families find work to support their needs and build brighter futures.
we are donating 1% of our online sales to support WORK’s vision of a world where poverty doesn’t exist, and families in Haiti can earn an income and care for their own.
